It appears as though I have just been tagged by Marek (Think This //) in a game of blog tag (ya I had no idea that was such a thing either). This particular game was started by Jeff Pulver, and the “rules” are, that you say 5 things not many people know about you, and then tag 5 more bloggers. I don’t think I know that many bloggers so we’ll see what I do once I get that far. Anyway…
- I pretty much never sleep in my bed, I usually sleep on the floor in the family room.
- There are some people, that when I talk to them, I feel like they have no idea what I’m talking about. Not because I’m reciting super advanced mathematical formulas or anything. They just don’t get what I’m saying. (it probably doesn’t make any more sense to me, then reading this makes to you)
- I’m sitting on the couch right now and I am extremely uncomfortable.
- One time, in 2nd grade or so, I got in trouble with the music teacher (it wasn’t my fault, Matt Mueller was making faces at me) and had to write her an apology note.
- When I was a ‘lil fella, I had a Little Mermaid Barbie… I don’t anymore though.
Now for the 5 people. As I said I don’t really know very many people who have blogs.
Bill Hardin
Mom Hardin
Rianne Hardin
Matthew Wells
Well that’s good enough I think.

Why is the news wasting all of their broadcast time on Anna Nicole Smith? Thousands of people die each day, and it’s sad. Do we need to have hour upon hour of news TV time to the story about one unimportant person’s death? There are several stories that networks could be sending reporters to for investigation. Such as -
- MEND rebels in Nigeria.
- Police officer shortage in Los Angeles.
- What was that thing going on in Iraq? I forgot…. ummm, oh ya! A WAR. That makes far better news.
- 8 feet of snow in New York, that’s cool.
It just seems like there are far more important things going on right now. She has been the main headline on Drudge Report for at least 12 hours straight now (probably longer, that’s just how long I’ve been keeping track), Greta devoted pretty much her entire show to the story on Fox News. Which was disappointing because over on CNN they were covering some of those other things I mentioned.

As I’m writing this I am sitting in a nail/hair/massage salon…. next time my mom asks if I want to come in or stay in the car, I’ll definitely chose the latter. First of all, it smells. It smells terrible. I don’t know what all that girl stuff is, but if I were to match the stench with odors I’ve whiffed in the past, I’d say it’s nail polish. Gallons of nail polish. Maybe even some sort of nail polish factory.
Okay, I seriously can’t contain myself. A woman sitting kitty corner from me just said, “I’m wearing long johns.” I don’t really care to hear that.
Aside from the horrid smell and the long john lady, it’s just kind of weird in here. The cushions on one of the benches are kind of cheetah looking. There’s some goofy rugs on the floor and someone took there shoes off before they went into one of the rooms.
The conversation between the customers and stylists is riveting. One lady was talking about how hairy someone (it might have been her) was, the need for some body part to be waxed (I don’t want to know what part), and one lady just asked another lady if “you found a bubble bath.”
I hope my mom is done soon cause I have to go to the bathroom (there’s no way I’m going to explore around this building looking for a bathroom), I’m starting to get a little dizzy from the afore mentioned stink, and I just don’t think I can be surrounded by all this womanism for too much longer.

Alright, I was under the impression that only a few people read this, and that I personally know all off them. But I was just looking at my Google Analytics page, and there have been over a hundred views in the last few weeks from Minneapolis…. I don’t know anyone in Minneapolis. So, if whoever is reading this, from Minneapolis (or anywhere north of Milwaukee for that matter), could just write a little comment (click the link that says No Comments) and say how you know me or how you found this site, or something; that would be cool.

My dad is a doctor, and when someone from the hospital need to talk to him, the have the hospital paging service send him a page so he can call back. My dad often has trouble when calling the paging service back. Here’s the latest conversation my sister and I overheard. We were laughing our heads off. I put “………” where the other persons dialog was which of course I couldn’t hear.
This is Dr. Hardin, somebody paged
………
This is Dr. Hardin
………
Dr. Hardin
………
Then why don’t you use a different phone cause I’m not gonna yell
………
THIS IS DOCTOR HARDIN!!!!!!

The battery on the laptop that I use has been dead for couple years now, and just the other day I got a new one. I did some reading and testing to try and figure out the best ways to conserver the short and long term life of the battery.
- Turn the screen brightness all the way down or at least as far down so you can still read the screen.
- Unplug any external devices, headphones, wireless cards (if you’re laptop has a built in Wi-Fi connection, use that), mice, etc.
- Have the screen shut off after one minute (the minimum).
- Set it so that it goes into standby fairly quickly (a few minutes).
- It makes sense to have the computer go into hibernate mode after it goes into standby. I can’t give any firsthand experience about hibernate mode because my computer does weird stuff when I put it in hibernate.
- If you don’t need to be looking at the screen, don’t have it open. For example if you are listening to music and aren’t doing anything else, close the screen so it shuts off. The screen sucks a lot of juice.
- Don’t have any superfluous applications running while you are on the battery. IMing is great, but when you really need to try to conserve the battery, I’d recommend closing everything that you don’t absolutely need.
- Don’t leave the laptop plugged in when you aren’t using it. I don’t know all the science of batteries, but I have read that leaving it plugged in will drain it faster by keeping it in a constant charge/discharge state. When you go to sleep or aren’t going to be using the laptop for a while, shut it down and unplug it.
- Calibrate (look around in your Control Panel to find this tool) your battery regularly. I have read that it should be done every few weeks, and I have also read that it should be done every couple months. I will be doing it every few weeks on my new battery.
Those seemed like the best ones I found on the web. If you search for “laptop battery tips” in Google, you’ll get tons of pages, but these seemed like all the best ones out there. If you have any questions, leave a comment. Oh and I’m going to write a post on the difference between standby and hibernate in a little bit.

Well I haven’t written anything here in quite some time now, due to a seeming lack of anything interesting going on… but I think I just don’t pay enough attention to the little things that I like or laugh at. I think I’ll be writing a bit more on here now. And maybe even taking the Christmas stuff down. I don’t know though, I do really like the silly little traditions of Christmas. Less is more though.
The new battery for my laptop just came today, which is sweet cause the other one was totally drained and I always had to be plugged in. So now I can roam free, at least for a while. I actually don’t know if I’ll like “roaming free” as much as I’ll like having the power (no pun intended) to roam free. Whatever.
Progress on the sweet computer program that I’m writing is coming along pretty good. I just had an idea the other day though, so I am going to have to rewrite a little bit of it. But that will make future development easier and ad the capability for a few more features.

We saw “Night at the Museum” today. For the second time actually. Most people probably blow it off as a kiddie movie, but it’s very good. Ben Stiller is funny, and Owen Wilson, and whoever the guy is that plays Octavius. I like movies that you always find yourself quoting after seeing it (“Johnny English”). This is definitely one of those. Don’t listen to the critics, the nearly full theater was laughing throughout.

‘Course 2007 is here. 2006 went by faster than movements after corn on the cob. But it was a great year: I got to captain a soccer team under a Marine coach, got to know the lady one year better, went on some very fun trips with my family, and got my bench up to 220 (I’ve actually never “tested” my max bench, but 220 is what I do at the peak). Today I was putting some home videos onto the computer, and as I was doing that I saw some clips from a few years ago. I just realized how fast time flies.
Have a great new year and don’t forget your family and real friends.

Well it’s Christmas Eve. I’m not sure what happened to the rest of December. But it is in fact, Christmas Eve. Let me think of all the Christmas things I forgot to do before Christmas came.
- Put Christmas music on here.
- Fix some of the Christmas lights outside.
- Plug in the cool lights upstairs.
So I guess that’s not too bad, but still. December went fast.
In case I don’t get on here tomorrow, everyone have a very Merry Christmas!!
